Lovely vocalist Christy Bennett is full of interesting ideas and is backed by a unique, fabulous band. The last time she performed at Studio5 she presented an evening of Django Reinhardt’s vocal music (!) and it was a near sellout. This performance is a preview of the group’s upcoming recording that features the music of Irene Higginbotham. Higginbotham was a composer in the 40s whose music is rarely heard today. Her most famous tune, Good Morning, Heartache is a great example of her unique sound and has proven to be just the tip of the iceberg from her body of work. I can’t wait to hear what Fumée has cooked up for us this time!
